You can buy life insurance from a website, a call center, or the agent your bank sent you. Here is what you get when you work with me instead: one licensed independent broker, 25+ carriers on the desk, and an honest answer about which one actually fits your health, budget, and family.
I have been a licensed broker since 2008. I do not work for an insurance company. I work for you, and there is no fee for that. These are the ten reasons clients tell me it made a difference.
10 reasons to work with me
I am independent, so my advice is not tied to one company’s product
A captive agent can only sell what their carrier offers, even when a competitor would rate you two classes better. I compare 25+ carriers side by side and recommend the one that wins for your file, not the one that pays me more.
You pay nothing extra to use me
Carriers pay brokers from the same premium you would pay going direct. There is no markup and no fee. The quote you get through me is the carrier’s own rate.
I pre-screen your health before your name goes on an application
Diabetes, blood pressure, sleep apnea, anxiety, a past cancer, a DUI: each carrier treats them differently. I send an anonymous summary to underwriters first, so you apply once, with the right company, instead of collecting declines on your MIB record.
I tell you how much coverage you actually need, and when it is too much
I have talked plenty of people down from a bigger policy. Income replacement, debts, kids’ education, and a spouse’s retirement gap are the math. Sales quotas are not.
I protect your paycheck, not just your life
Most families are far more likely to face a long illness or injury than an early death. I set up disability insurance and life insurance together, with carriers chosen so the two policies fit, instead of selling one and ignoring the other.
Term first, permanent only when it earns its place
For most families, level term is the right answer, and I say so. Whole life, IUL, and hybrid long-term care policies have real uses, and I will show you the math when one of them fits. I will not dress up a permanent policy as a “savings plan” to raise the commission.
I negotiate the offer, not just deliver it
When a carrier comes back with a table rating, I do not just forward the bad news. I gather doctor notes, ask for reconsideration, or move the case to a carrier that reads the same file more kindly. That step alone has saved clients thousands over a term.
You talk to the same person from quote to claim
No call center, no ticket number, no “let me transfer you.” I handle the application, chase the exam and records, explain the offer, and I am still the person your family calls if they ever need to file a claim.
No pressure, no countdown timers
You will get a clear recommendation, the reasons behind it, and time to think. If the answer is “keep your group coverage and add a small term policy,” that is what I will tell you.
I keep working after the policy is issued
A new baby, a mortgage, a business, a term policy about to expire, or an old universal life policy sending premium-increase notices: those are the moments coverage needs a second look. Clients hear from me before those deadlines, not after.
Who I am not the right fit for
Honesty works both ways, so here is where you may be better served elsewhere:
- You want a guaranteed-issue policy with zero questions and are fine paying much more per dollar of coverage. I will still show you the trade-off, but you may not need a broker for it.
- You want to buy in ten minutes with no human contact. Instant-issue apps exist. They also rate you as an average, which is expensive if you are healthier than average.
- You are looking for investment advice. I am a licensed insurance broker, not an investment adviser, and I will say so rather than pretend.
How working with me goes
First, a short conversation or the online quote form: your age, health basics, budget, and what you want the money to do. Second, I shop it across the carriers that fit and send you two or three real options with plain-English pros and cons. Third, you pick, I handle the application, exam, and underwriting, and you get a policy in force. Most term cases take two to four weeks; accelerated no-exam cases can be days.
